Takeaway food for convenience or while on the go, Taupo has all the large restaurant chains or franchise operations providing eat in, takeaway or drive thru food. Taupo and the region have a huge selection of franchises. McDonalds, Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken or Subway. In all the towns you will find fish and chips, pizza or hamburgers, and/or Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Indian Restaurants.
Taupo town has small residential suburbs where the tiny strip malls have at least a dairy, restaurant or fastfood outlet selling fish and chips and asian takeaways.
At the local petrol and gas stations you will find convenience food and beverages to go, and stocking the traditional famous New Zealand meat pie, sausage rolls, sandwiches, ice-cream, sweets, and potato chips.
