The Lake Taupo region has 11 vineyards with 5 producing wine.
Our climate and soil are proving to be ideal for riesling, pinotage, pinot gris and pinot noir varieties, so we await further updates on the vineyards and also the eventual wine trail we hope to have around the lake!

This is Lake Taupo's first commercial vineyard planted in 1997, now producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling with strong regional varietal characters. Tastings by appointment only.
Omori Estate produces and sells olive olis and premium wines from the vineyard cellar door. open 3pm - 6pm daily from Christmas to February or by appointment.
Tongariro River Estate has been producing Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir from 2001. A Cellar Door for sales and tastings will be opening during the 2007 Summer.
