September is home to the Jamis Bicycles Day Night Thriller. The largest event of it's kind in the world, it attracts over 4000 riders annually.
If mountain biking isn't your thing, September also offers the Hunters and Habitat Sika Show and the Taupo Wedding Show.

After the success of last years Trustpower Community Award winning Taupo Wedding Show, Taupo Parents Centre is proud to be bringing the event to Taupo again on Sunday 7th September 2008. The show will exhibit a large number of Taupo wedding professionals, with the Bride of the Year and various fashion shows providing the entertainment for visitors to the show between 9.30am and 4pm.

The "Thriller "is fast becoming one of the best events on the mountain bikers calendar and is the largest mountain bike event of its kind in the world with over 4,000 riders. Its wide appeal lies in the fact that it caters to all mountain bikers, from recreational day riders to night riding adrenaline junkies. The ride is a five-person lap race, or continuous relay event, operating for twelve hours from 10.30am to 10.30pm. Only one team member may be riding on the course at any one time and the next rider must be tagged to commence their lap. The course is 8km or 30 minutes in length. MotoTT holds regular motorcycle track days at Taupo's new international race track. These track days are designed to be a fun, non competitive environment in which to test your bike and your riding skills. Go as fast or as slow as you like with no cars (or police) to worry about. Riders are given sessions of 25 minutes (10-12 laps on the full 3.5km track). You may select 3 groups to ride in (1=fast, 2=medium and 3=slower). Spaces are limited so booking is essential to secure a place.
