Mt. Ruapehu has brillant skiing and snowboarding, with the longest vertical drop in Australasia. Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields are located in a Dual World Heritage Area and have the highest lift access terrain in New Zealand. Whakapapa and Turoa, have a combined area of 1050 hectares, the largest skiable area in New Zealand. There is an excellent variety of terrain to suit all levels of skiers, with one run 4 kilometres long. Both ski fields feature Happy Valley and Alpine Meadow for learners, with special areas for tobogganning and tubing. The result, a remedy for one very good time!
