Lake Taupo is a beautiful freshwater inland sea to explore, so hiring a boat gives you the freedom to see it all. Cruise your way round the bays at your own pace and try some fishing or water skiing. Lake Taupo is the biggest lake in New Zealand with beautiful hidden bays, sandy pumice beaches, waterfalls, bush clad hills and steep cliff faces.
Cross the bay and around Rangitira Point and float under the cliffs where the rock carvings drop straight into the deepest water. Venture further to Kinloch or the western bays and land on the pumice shore for lunch. Peer into the shallow waters, with rippling sands and swimming trout, or take an evening meal and see the trout rise. This beautiful lake beneath the mountains is worth a boating adventure.
