Motuopa

on the southern lake shore

On SH1, 10kms north of Turangi, is the lakeshore settlement of Motuopa. The holiday settlement has become popular with people living in the lower North Island because of its southern location on Lake Taupo. In recent years the village has developed as an area for permanent dwellings with people working in either Turangi or Taupo and those who have retired. The area has grown substantially since the development of large subdivisions which have attracted more holiday-makers wanting to buy property. Motuopa amenities include holiday accommodation, boat marina, boat ramp and motorcamp.
